How do I open the tripod legs without forcing them apart?

Grip the knob and push it downward — all four legs will fan out at once. Once they reach your preferred width, twist the knob to lock them in place. Always use the knob to open and close the legs; do not pull or force them apart by hand.

How do I extend the tripod to its full 71-inch height?

The pole has 7 extension sections — pull each one out fully, using a bit of extra force if needed. Stopping partway through any section means it won’t reach the full 71 inches. Extend all 7 sections completely for max height.
