Can I pair the chime directly with Google Home?

No. You must first pair the chime in the SmartLife app, enable alert modes, then link SmartLife to Google. After that, create a Household Routine in Google Home to trigger the chime when your doorbell rings.

I can’t find “Doorbell rings” as a trigger in Google Home. Why?

You are likely using a Personal Routine. Personal Routines do not support doorbell triggers. You must select “Household Routine” instead. See the setup guide above for step-by-step instructions with screenshots.

How many chimes can I connect to one Nest Doorbell?

You can expand to 99+ devices. All chimes will ring simultaneously when your doorbell is pressed, as long as they are within your WiFi coverage.

Is there a delay between the doorbell press and the chime ringing?

Wired doorbells ring instantly. Battery doorbells have a normal 3-5s delay. To conserve power, battery doorbells enter “sleep” mode and need a brief moment to “wake up” when pressed. This is standard for all battery-powered video doorbells.

Will this chime work if my phone is off or not at home?

Yes! Once set up, the chime works independently of your phone. It connects directly through your WiFi network. Your phone is only needed for initial setup and customization.
